Importance of seizure self reports 🤳
When and how to use the Self Report function in Mellow
Keep your seizure diary complete! 🗓
If you report all of your seizures, we can create a complete event diary with personalized insights for you. We can give you tips on how to discover your triggers and warning symptoms and help you keep an overview of your seizure events and have more control over your epilepsy.
Review all your past seizure events 📆
In the seizure diary, you will see all the seizure events that were detected by Mellow or self reported. You will also find information about the frequency of your seizures since you started using Mellow. This way you don't have to worry about remembering and noting down the days when you have a seizure event, you can review them in the diary, keep an overview on your epilepsy and even share the diary with your doctor.
Discover your seizure triggers 🤒 🥱
Even though you may not know when a seizure will happen, you can look at whether there are situations (so called "triggers") that can provoke your seizures. This seizure diary can help you identify your triggers. For example, if we notice that you frequently report not sleeping well before a seizure, we will indicate lack of sleep as a possible trigger for you. You can use this information to make changes and help you get better seizure control.
Track your auras and warning symptoms 🚨
Aura symptoms can be a warning that a seizure is about to happen. Sometimes it's difficult to remember and keep track of the symptoms you had before a seizure, the diary can help you with that! While auras can be scary, if you know your symptoms, you can take steps to protect yourself if you know a seizure is on the way. If you experience these warning symptoms, sit down, find a safe location, and get help, you can alert your emergency contact by starting an alarm on Mellow!
How were you feeling before the seizure? 💡
The diary will keep track of the symptoms you reported in the 24 hours before a seizure. Similarly to auras, these warning symptoms can tell you that you might be at risk of having a seizure during the following 24h. When you experience these symptoms, you might want to postpone risky activities or social events, and stay in the company of people that can help you if a seizure occurs. You should also talk to your doctor about these symptoms, they might want to schedule an appointment with you to record the possible event.
